Duke’s daughter Emily and Crown Prince Rios have been betrothed since childhood. In their empire, royal marriages are validated by the divine "Ritual of the Sacred Mirror," which glows only if the couple shares genuine, mutual love. Emily eagerly anticipated this day, but upon Rios's return from studying abroad, he has become a completely cold, distant, and unfeeling stranger, causing the Sacred Mirror to stay entirely dim during their ceremony. Despite Emily's tireless efforts to bridge the gap and understand his sudden change, Rios repeatedly pushes her away and treats her with cold indifference. Heartsick and tired of pleading for affection from a brick wall, Emily breaks off the engagement and sets off to reclaim her life, stepping out into the world to embrace total freedom.
